The 22nd class of Leadership Door County is off and running. Leadership Door County is an organization focused on identifying existing and potential leaders. The annual program is designed to help participants develop and strengthen their leadership skills while providing them with a strong understanding of community issues.
Members of the 22nd Leadership Door County class are: Jim DuFrane, Kevin Grohskopf, Jodi Hibbard, Erin Hoffman, Ryan Johnson, Cindy Koutnik, Elizabeth Meissner-Gigstead and Joe Mitchell.
Class members meet one day per month from October through May to learn about aspects of the Door County community, including media communications, government, education, history, the arts, human services, health care, economics and the environment. The class recently paid a visit to DoorCountyDailyNews.com as part of that effort.
In addition to participating in the monthly meetings, class members are asked to complete a class project, with the goal of addressing a previously unmet need in the community. The project for the 2010-11 class was to raise awareness and support for the 2-1-1 PLUS project and resource in Door County. Other projects have included fundraising programs, feasibility studies, student resource fairs, parkland development and special events.
