Be a companion to an elderly friend

Catholic Human Services

The Senior Companion Program engages persons 55 and older to volunteer one-on-one with the homebound frail elderly and assist clients with grocery shopping, transportation to medical appointments, and most importantly, they develop friendships with their clients.

One senior said, "My Senior Companion is like a breath of fresh air. I look forward to her visit every week. The company she provides aids me in helpful matters an 87 year old, recovering from a stroke can only appreciate."

Often times, the assistance Senior Companions provide their clients allows recipients to stay at home rather than being institutionalized, resulting in major health care costsavings for seniors, their families, and communities.

Volunteers must be at least 55 years old and complete a training program provided by Catholic Human Services.
