On November 7th, 2009, from 9 AM until Noon, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources AmeriCorps program, in collaboration with the City of Muscatine, is holding a brush-hauling event at the intersection of Canon Avenue and River Road in the northeast part of the city (2132 River Road). Volunteers are needed to help drag and haul brush to the City Compost Site and to remove garbage along the trail.

Volunteers are encouraged to dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes and work gloves.  Also, volunteers will want to bring their own water bottle. The City will provide trash bags and may have a few extra safety glasses to loan out. If you are interested in sawing smaller tree stumps, please bring loppers and/or a bow saw to the event.

Refreshments will be offered later in the morning.

For more information about this opportunity, contact Andrew Shireman at 319-523-3102 or Andrew.Shireman@dnr.iowa.gov.

Thank you and hope to see you there at the brush-hauling event in Muscatine!
