Valley United Way Recruits Volunteers for Smallpox Vaccination Clinics in Case of War
Active Mar 14, 2003 to May 14, 2003
|Valley United Way's Volunteer Action Center is working in coordination with the Naugatuck Valley Health District to prepare valley residents for possible threats of war and immunization against smallpox. Volunteers are needed within the Valley to staff and administer smallpox clinics that will be located in the cities of Ansonia, Derby and Seymour if a threat should arise. In addition to vaccinators, volunteers will be needed to oversee screening for conditions that could preclude vaccination, counseling regarding contraindications and side effects, data entry, and post vaccination follow-up and contact surveillance. All volunteers will receive additional information, including educational programs, pre-screening and training once they have decided to serve their community. |
If you are a resident of the Valley and are interested in helping the health district to provide emergency services for local citizens, please log onto www.valleyunitedway.org and register to volunteer. For further information, please contact Joy DeMarchis at 735-9331 at the Valley United Way.
