Mission Statement:

The mission of The Women’s Community is to provide specialized services and resources to people in central Wisconsin affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and unemployment. Our goal is to help individuals and families attain greater emotional and economic self-sufficiency.


Our vision as a model organization empowers communities and individuals who have survived the effects of violence and oppression through the provision of quality programming, advocacy and education. The ultimate goal being to reduce-eradicate violence.

The Women’s Community, Inc encompasses five specialized programs: Domestic Abuse, Sexual Assault, Abuse in Later Life, Southeast Asian and Transitional Living.

The Domestic Abuse Program advocates provide crisis services to victims of domestic abuse and their children, including 24-hour advocacy at the shelter and coverage of the crisis lines. Abuse includes physical, emotional, sexual, psychological and financial.

The Sexual Assault Program advocates provide support, advocacy and referral services to sexual assault victims, adult survivors of child sexual abuse, non-offending parents and caregivers and sexual harassment victims.

The Abuse in Later Life Program advocates for victims of domestic and sexual assault who are over the age of fifty.

The Southeast Asian Program provides specialized services to Southeast Asian victims of sexual and domestic abuse.

The Transitional Living Program advocates provide long-term support during the transitional period beginning just after choosing to leave an abusive relationship and continuing until program participants feel emotionally and financially self-sufficient.

The Women’s Community supportive services provided by each individual program includes but are not limited to safety planning, medical and legal advocacy, law enforcement advocacy, children’s advocacy, referrals to community resources, and support groups.
