Youth Award - Ingrid Cruz

RSS XML FeedBackground Active May 15, 2010 to May 22, 2010

Youth Volunteer of the Year - Ingrid Cruz, Eugene Teen Courts.

Ingrid, a 2009 Churchill High School graduate, served as a case presenter, juror and court clerk for Eugene's Teen Courts, which conducts hearings for first-time juvenile defenders.  Cruz, who is bilingual, also helped Spanish-speaking families interpret legal issues.  She juggled these responsibilities with studying and working to support herself and her 12 year old brother.

Volunteer Hours:  63 in the past year.

"Ingrid has taken on for more family and work responsibilities than would normally be expected of a teen.  Despite all this, Ingrid is an excellent student with big goals, and she gives of herself to Teen Courts.  She is amazing."  - Bruce Steinmetz, Eugene Teen Courts
