Description:

Want to help make college a reality for more youth in our community? You can make a real difference in a young person's future and have a great time to boot! by making sure college-bound kids and their families are aware of the FAFSA and how to complete it. (The FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is the form required to get most financial aid, including scholarships, grants and loans.) United Way of King County, in partnership with Microsoft, is organizing a weekend of outreach to make sure our community knows about this opportunity for a brighter future. Volunteers will distribute informational door hangers in select neighborhoods that promote strategies for completing the FAFSA. For each event, we will meet in a central location (TBD), where volunteers will receive training, materials, and outreach route assignments before heading out into the community. Saturday, January 19, 10am-1pm: Outreach in Auburn School District neighborhoods. Monday, January 21, 10am-1pm: Outreach in Highline School District neighborhoods.

United Way of King County mobilizes our community in ways that no single agency, individual or government can to enhance the ability of people to care for one another.

Description:
United Way of King County envisions an economically robust, safe, healthy, and proactively caring community in which every individual thrives during each stage of life: healthy babies, successful students, engaged adults, and active seniors. Our two primary community initiatives are ending homelessness in King County and getting every child born in King County ready for school by the time they reach kindergarten.
