Volunteer Opportunity - Ecological Restoration Work Parties
Volunteer Opportunity Details:
Drive away the winter blues and restore your health by restoring the prairies, forests, and oak savannas of the U.W. Arboretum on the first through fourth Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. to Noon. Learn about these special places while removing invasive plants, preparing sites for prescribed burns, and sowing seeds. All tools, equipment, instruction, and refreshments are provided. Participants should wear long pants, sturdy shoes, and be ready to get dirty. Dress for being outdoors. Work parties are canceled when it is too cold (below 10 degrees F) or the snow too deep for safe work.
Groups are welcome with advance arrangements, and work days other than Saturdays can be scheduled. Youths are welcome when accompanied by an adult. This is a good activity for families with kids 12 years and older.
