Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on August 6, 2015

Embrace springtime and restore your well-being by restoring the prairies, forests, and oak savannas of the U.W. Arboretum on the first through fourth Saturdays of each month from 9 a.m. to Noon. Learn about these special places while removing invasive plants, preparing sites for prescribed burns, and sowing seeds. All tools, equipment, instruction, and refreshments are provided. Participants should wear long pants, sturdy shoes, and be ready to get dirty. Dress for being outdoors. Work parties are in case of rain, deep mud, or other inclement weather.

Groups are welcome with advance arrangements, and work days other than Saturdays can be scheduled. Youths are welcome when accompanied by an adult. This is a good activity for families with kids 12 years and older.

a relaxed, appreciative environment

I volunteered at the Arboretum a few years ago and worked on their archives. It was a very pleasant environment and everyone was so friendly and appreciative. I'd highly recommend it!
