||The Allied Wellness Center helps disenfranchised, poor residents of the
Allied Drive area access and use medical and social services they need
to protect and care for their health. We offer health promotion
programs, individual health counseling and advocacy, and other social,
emotional and instrumental support to residents of Madison's poorest
neighborhood, based on the parish nurse model of holistic care.
Allied is changing into a friendlier, safer, healthier community--come help us with this transformation!
If you are interested in serving with a diverse and lively board committed to improving life for some of Madison's poorest residents, please call me at 236-2899 to discuss our work in more detail.
We are looking for caring, culturally competent board members with any of the following skills or experience:
Some experience with or understanding of the assets and challenges of underserved, segregated neighborhoods is helpful but not necessary.
- Community health or public health,
- Spanish language and Hispanic cultural experience,
- Clinical skills or training,
- Fund-raising or development expertise,
- Experience with successful small non-profit organizations.
We currently meet monthly for 2 hours. Feel free to attend our upcoming meeting at 7pm on the first Monday of the month, upstairs at 2225 Allied Drive, or call Board Secretary Christina Kantor at 236-2899 for more information.
