Montgomery County Child Welfare holds monthly information sessions for prospective foster parents. Come learn about making all the difference in the life of a vulnerable child. The meeting covers how children come into foster care, the application process to become a foster (resource) parent, and answers questions participants have about the program. No RSVP needed.

Becoming a foster parent should be a well thought out decision involving everyone in your family. To become a foster parent you must:
Have respect for and interest in caring for children and families.
Be 21 years of age or older.
Own or rent your own house or apartment.
Be either single or married.
Be in good physical and mental health.
Be able to meet your family's financial obligations.
Submit to a housing inspection.
Pass a criminal background check.
Meet pre-service training requirements.
Have a stable family relationship.

 Directions: Information meetings for prospective foster parents are held once a month (call 240-777-1664 for details)at the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Building at the corner of Gude Dr. and Piccard Dr., one block west of I-270. Park in the parking lot; enter by the south door (which faces Gude Dr.) and proceed through the double glass doors to the Security Desk. Follow the signs to the first floor conference room.
