High School Mentor for Summer Student Leadership Institute Student Service Learning (SSL) Approved

A teen instructor for the Student Leadership Institute must be able to perform the services below:
The focus of the Institute is for trained high school (grades 9-12) students to be instructors for middle school students to help them learn leadership skills necessary for successful, meaningful participation in high school and community service activities. Two 5-day Institutes are scheduled from 5:30-8:30pm, July 10-14 and July 17-21 at St. John’s Episcopal School, 3427 Olney Laytonsville Rd, Olney, MD 20832.

You may apply to be a teen instructor for one or both sessions.

A teen instructor for the Student Leadership Institute must be able to perform the services below:

  1. Attend 6 planning/training sessions (1 evening per week for 6 weeks) held on June 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and July 6 from 7-8:30 pm at Longwood Recreation Center 19300 Georgia Ave., Brookeville, MD. (A maximum of 2 excused absences will be permitted, with prior approval).
  2. Commit to being present at the one-week Institute each evening from 5:00-9:00 pm
**Teen instructors will earn Student Service Learning hours for the 5-day Institute and training sessions after completion of commitment.
