Cape Cod National Seashore Fire Management Program

Organization Details:

Cape Cod National Seashore Fire Management Program
Last updated on June 24, 2015

The Cape Cod National Seashore Fire Management Program is focused on reducing fuel loads in targeted areas of the National Seashore in order to mitigate future forest fires, as well as to assist with research efforts and vista management.

Volunteers will be asked to assist with cut-pile-and-burn projects. Normal projects include removing excess trees and brush from targeted areas by cutting, piling, and burning. Depending on proficiency and experience, volunteers may use hand tools such as loppers or hand saws, or power tools such as brush cutters or chainsaws.

The Cape Cod National Seashore is a national park comprising almost half of the land on the outer Cape. The National Seashore consists of beaches, forests, and other critical habitats.
