Volunteer Opportunity - Companionship services help families
Volunteer Opportunity Details:
Companionship services is a non-medical companionship service for individuals or families who have become full-time Caregivers for home bound family members who are no longer able to take care of their daily needs and wish to remain independent at home for as long as possible. Many of HELP Adult Service's clients are providing care to family members with Alzheimer's or some form of dementia. The Respite Companionship program provides a reliable, low-cost solution for Caregivers to take some much-needed personal time to attend to their own physical and emotional needs. A trained and caring volunteer is matched with a family, travels to the home, and spends time reading, writing notes, or conversing with the home bound individual while the Caregiver takes a break for two – four hours each week.
