Country View is a non-profit long-term care facility owned and operated by Black Hawk County. Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive and caring environment which enhances maximum independence, dignity and quality of life for residents.
Volunteers play an important role as members of our service team, enriching and enhancing the lives of residents through their involvement.

Country View serves individuals in need of 24 hour nursing or skilled nursing care and individuals with intellectual disabilities needing intermediate care. Nursing services include medical care, physical assistance and restorative services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, respiratory therapy, drug therapy, wound care therapy and enteral therapy. Also provided are individualized dietary services, social services, recreation, transportation and housekeeping.
Volunteer assistance enables staff to increase services and broaden the social and recreational opportunities available to residents.

Country View began as a poor farm in the late 1800's. It served individuals who would otherwise be homeless due to physical or intellectual disabilities, mental illness, substance abuse, domestic abuse or unwed pregnancy and who either had no family or whose families were unable or unwilling to shelter them. Residents worked as able on the farm and in the facility.
Country View was later called the Black Hawk County Care Facility, offering the residential level of care.
As services in the community increased, residents were moved into group homes or supervised apartment settings. The facility was renamed Country View and began offering 24 hour nursing and intermediate care to individuals needing a higher level of care. When area hospitals began closing their skilled nursing units Country View met the need by offering the skilled nursing level of care. Country View recently added a PMI (Persistently Mentally Ill) unit to meet the need for services to individuals with mental illness and behavioral issues.
