Volunteer Opportunity Details:
The Baltimore Urban Debate League is determined to provide debate & its benefits to the students of the Baltimore City Public School System. Debate is a great educational tool - it's an active learning method that empowers students to improve literacy, communication, research & critical thinking skills as well as non-violent conflict resolution. Most importantly, it teaches students that they do have a voice, that their experiences and opinions do matter and that someone will listen. For students in the under-resourced Baltimore Public Schools, debate is often a life changing experience.
Judges must be 16 years or older, enjoy working with young people and thinking critically. Training is required, and is provided free of charge before each tournament at our offices at 2601 North Howard Street, Suite 150, Baltimore, MD 21218, on tournament Saturdays during the first round of debate, or, for groups of five or more people, at a time & location of your choosing with prior notice. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a spot, to schedule a remote training or if you have any questions.
