Refugee Mentor

Be a friend and guide to a refugee family in Cleveland. Volunteers will join a support team and a three month commitment is required. Training provided. Resume Writing

Groups of volunteers needed to work with students in Cleveland public high schools as they prepare for job interviews. Volunteers work with students in developing resumes and providing recommendations. Two-hour commitment at the high school and 90 minute resume software training required. Volunteers must have experience writing resumes, minimum of 18 years of age and possess at least a high school diploma. Weekly tutors needed from October-May at one of 7 sites in Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Commit one hour once a week during the school day. Tutors follow a structured program designed to advance reading levels and enhance comprehension in the elementary schools. Training is required and provided. How to Participate

  1. Register or login to the Volunteer Center.
  2. Search for a volunteer opportunity or use BVU's Volunteer Personality Quiz to help you choose.
  3. Volunteer for at least 4 hours between April 11 and August 31, 2016 (can be earned over multiple dates).
  4. Log your volunteer hours and make your game choice.
  5. BVU will send you an email with instructions to claim your tickets.
