Volunteer Opportunity - Spotters for I Can Bike Camp

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on April 3, 2014

This is a life changing camp that teaches individuals of different abilities to ride a two-wheel bicycle without training wheels. There are 5 sessions daily with 8 riders attending their same assigned session each day. This achievement helps these special people gain assurance and self-reliance in many other aspects of their lives.

Volunteers walk/lightly jog beside riders to help teach balance and provide emotional and motivational support. We encourage every volunteer to commit to working the entire week of the camp for the 75 minute session they select. Campers bond with their volunteers and rely on the same person to be there each day to help them learn to ride a bike.

Daily Session Times: 8:30 am, 10:05 am, 11:20 am, 2:00 pm, 3:35 pm

Volunteers should be able to jog at a moderate pace for one hour with short breaks or walk fast for one hour with short breaks.

Volunteers must attend a Volunteer Orientation and Training Session on Sunday, July 13th from at 4pm at Copley High School Auxiliary Gym.

This opportunity is sponsored by: Autism Society of Greater Akron

We need volunteers who are free at these times
