Be a volunteer income tax preparer and help low-income families keep more of their hard-earned money!

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on April 21, 2016

One of the best ways to help low-income families through tough times and bring millions of dollars to communities in Cleveland is through free tax preparation.

The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is one of the most effective ways to fight poverty in our country. It puts thousands of dollars in the pockets of low-income families and keeps most of them out of abject poverty. Sadly, many of these families are unaware of this and often will go to tax preparation businesses that charge them hundreds of dollars in fees and will pressure them into taking out refund anticipation loans that charge them outrageous interest rates, taking even more of their hard-earned money out of their pockets.

You don't need to have any specialized knowledge or be a math wiz, just someone who can learn quickly. We will train you to use our software and on basic tax knowledge. Who knows, it might help you when you file your family's tax return!

Dates & Times needed: Tuesdays/Thursdays 5pm-8pm and Fridays/Saturdays 10am-2pm.

There is an online training component and an orientation. We ask that volunteers are trustworthy, have data entry experience/ability, a willingness to learn, and a passion to help fight poverty.
