Are you a real live SUPER HERO? Make a difference in the lives of older Arlingtonians! Become a volunteer with the Personal Advocate Service at the Agency on Aging . Assist residents 60 and over to receive the help they need in negotiating their way through the maze of information about medical insurance and aging services. Volunteers will be trained to assist recipients with a variety of needs, such as exploring housing options, filling out forms or determining which services are available and would be helpful, conducting home safety assessments, Grand Driver, Fraud and Abuse prevention workshops. Specialized training is given for those interested in working with insurance issues such as Medicare, Medigap, Long-term Care insurance and Managed Care. Most training is provided Saturdays and evenings. For more information, please call Lori Hughes, Personal Advocate Services Coordinator at (703) 228-1734. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, and must complete an Arlington County Police background record check. Three references must also be submitted.
