At Homeland Preparedness Project our job is to Make Our Community a Safer Place to Live by Uniting Fort Bend County in Preparedness. By delivering Medical Reserve Corps trainings, with our over 2,500 Team Members (volunteers) in Fort Bend County, we train community members, 16 and over with an adult or 18 and over, in the skills necessary to prepare for and respond to public health emergencies such as hurricanes, tornadoes, emerging diseases such as swine flu and bird flu, and terrorism among others.

Description:
Medical Reserve Corps based in the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General is celebrating its 10th Year Anniversary in 2012!! This year we are working hard to recruit at least 1% (5,600)of the Fort Bend population to commit to helping us respond to major public health emergencies. To do this we have created several new programs including PODs (Points of Distribution), Youth Mentorship, Functional Needs Sheltering, Community Health Assessment, and CORPS Leadership to keep our volunteers active and their skills current. Our MRC trained Team Members have any number of responsibilities and duties he/she can perform within these programs including supervising, planning, operating and coordinating logistics for staff, supplies, set-up and break-down, leading teams, and press and media among many, many others. ALL OF OUR POSITIONS ARE EQUALLY IMPORTANT, no matter what your level is. Get in touch TODAY to find out how you can be a leader in the Medical Reserve Corps!

History:
Homeland Preparedness Project has been around for a number of years serving the Brazoria and Ft. Bend Counties. Our mission is guided by the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General to improve the safety, health and resiliency in both preparedness and response for the communities we work in.
