Agency Details:
Pay it Forward
| Last updated on July 26, 2011 |
The local Pay It Forward group was inspired by the book Pay It Forward (which also became a movie) by Catherine Ryan Hyde, and hopes to have a positive impact within our community.
Description:
Pay It Forward raises money publicly to be given away privately. Every cent raised is given away. There are no administrative costs. Often those who are helped do not know where the assistance came from. Local membership has three criteria: give of yourself, give of your own monies and help educate at least one other person about the concept of Pay It Forward. Membership is anonymous, and there are no membership dues or quotas, or meeting requirements. Members give to their own abilities.
History:
The local Pay It Forward group was begun by John Beranek of Sioux Falls in 2001. Since then we have been active in fund raisers and awareness campaigns in our community, giving anonymous monetary gifts to those in need, and have put on twelve performances for a variety of organizations and causes.
