About Volunteer Northwest MississippiVisit our website at www.volunteernwms.org
Volunteer Northwest Mississippi is the first volunteer center for the northwest region, established in 2006 through the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service and the Points of Light Foundation. It is housed in the office of the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi and covers an eight (8) county area operating through Volunteer Solutions, an online volunteer management system. Individuals, groups, businesses, and churches can sign on as volunteers, and non-profits can sign on and list their volunteer opportunities. This is the perfect way to match volunteers with volunteer opportunities. Volunteers and non-profit organizations can also participate in annual days of service held by Volunteer Northwest Mississippi.
Since its establishment the volunteer center has registered and matched hundreds of volunteers and non-profit organizations. The Volunteer Center has advertised over 200 opportunities for volunteers and new opportunities are added daily. Volunteer Northwest Mississippi also publishes a monthly e-newsletter that highlights volunteer opportunities and volunteers. The newsletter also covers recent events and upcoming opportunities. Volunteer Northwest Mississippi is also a call center in conjunction with Emergency Management, the Red Cross, and the Department of Human Services in times of disaster. If you or your organization would like more information on Disaster Preparedness or SafeSpaces contact Anna Dickerson at 662.449.5002. Volunteer Northwest Mississippi is also an affiliate of the HandsOn Network, the volunteer-focused arm of the Points of Light Institute.
