Military Museum SNE
| Last updated on July 26, 2011 |
The Museum is dedicated to preservation of artifacts and education of United States military history. The emphasis is 20th century mechanized warfare. The Museum owns many one-of-a-kind vehicles and similar artifacts.
Description:
We operate a 10,000 square foot museum near the Danbury Fair Mall plus a large outdoor display space. Within the Museum, we have a combination of static and rotating displays, a library and a gift store. We also carry out a full schedule of activities, including our popular open-turret day and restoration. The entire museum is volunteer run, except for one full-time paid employee who acts as executive director.
History:
We started in 1985 with a small group of collectors. We opened the Museum several years later in a donated building and gradually grew the base of volunteers and members. We operate daily in spring-summar-fall and reduced hours in winter.
