Healthy Cedar Valley Coalition

The Healthy Cedar Valley Coalition is organized for the purpose of working toward a healthy Cedar Valley for all to live, grow, and thrive with partnerships that build community coalitions and capacity through education, outreach and advocacy. The group is organized into 3 active committees: Maximize Fresh Produce Availability; Green, Clean and Healthy; and Recycle and Renewable Energy. Membership is open to anyone sharing these interests.

The Healthy Cedar Valley Coalition is a community collaboration that was created in January 2010. Agencies currently involved include the YWCA, YWCA, ISU Extension, Food Bank of Northeast Iowa, BHC Health Department, Hartman Reserve, Waste Trac, Cedar Valley Arboretum, HCC, UNI, Beyond Pink Team, Unitarian Universalist, etc.

The Healthy Cedar Valley Coalition seeks "Garden Brigade" volunteers for community gardens sites throughout the Cedar Valley. Volunteer opportunities include soil preparation, planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting.
