Spend A Day With A Child With Special Needs

RSS XML FeedBackground Active Jul 9, 2012 to Jul 15, 2012

Share your time and energy and enjoy a day of fun activities with a child with special needs Saturday, July 28. As a volunteer, you'll be matched one on one with a child, to enjoy crafts, games, movies, gym time and more, at their level. Kids are infant to 18 years of age. Lunch and snacks are provided. Nursing staff do all toileting and any medical needs the child may have.

By giving the parents some much needed respite, you are strengthening this family unit. Often a parent will say, "If I know that I can count on a break from caring for my son/daughter, then I can meet the challenges/stress of every day, knowing that respite is coming. I can look forward to the time when I can meet my own needs." Just a little time means so much to the parents, and provides a wonderful day for the child/children.

Events are held monthly at different locations throughout the metro area.  No special training is needed, just your time and energy!

You will receive a confirmation letter/email with information, and a map; also upon check-in you will receive specific information about the child you will be with, and the parents will give first hand information.

Location: Will-o-Way Park in Wauwatosa.

Sponsored by Volunteer Respite Program At Children's Hospital Of Wisconsin - Community Services.
