Join AARP's dynamic, energetic and technologically savvy team of volunteers who assist moderate to low income and older residents complete their taxes.
AARP Tax-Aide is a free, confidential, and quality tax filing service available to middle and low income taxpayers of all ages with special attention to those age 60 and older.
As a Tax-Aide volunteer you will learn new skills and stay up to date with changes in tax law. AARP Tax-Aide welcomes team members of all ages.
Skills you can expect to learn:
• A comprehensive training provided by AARP volunteers who become IRS certified and trained to assist in filing basic tax forms.
• After passing an exam, the volunteers are certified and assigned to work with more experienced volunteers.
• Volunteers' hours during tax season (February 01 through April 15) are flexible. We ask you to commit an average of 6 hours of tax preparation per week during that time.
Tax-Aide volunteers are reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses and mileage. Most importantly you enjoy knowing you have assisted others complete a quality tax return and who would otherwise be unable to do so.
Training begins in early October. Time committment is 6 hours per week during tax season Feb.1st-April15th.
