Training Description: Informal, to meet the needs of the new member. This could be via a phone meeting, coming to our office, or meeting with the board president one-half hour before the first board meeting.

Financial Amount: If it's a single mother board member who cannot afford to donate, we do not ask for a financial commitment. However, we expect others to give an annual donation, according to their means.
Committee Service: No
Committee List: We do not have separate committees, but various board members have chosen programs for involvement: chair or committee member for fall fundraiser or ; administrator of our Facebook site or Twitter account; off-location crib site coordinator; researcher for our quarterly resource newspaper, etc.
Other Requirements: Attend 4 of the 6 board meetings per year. Be committed to the mission of helping single mothers and their children. Providing input, networking, bringing contacts and ideas, and decision-making at board meetings are essential. If board members can volunteer additional time on programs or events, that is appreciated.

Position title: Board Member
Description: We are a human services organization, so knowledge of that area is helpful. We need ideas, connections, and resources for our programs and fund raising efforts. Ideal candidate is enthusiastic, organized, has ideas, will reliably follow-through with tasks, and advocates for single mothers and their children. Skills in networking, communicating, and promoting are a plus.
