History:
In 1973, Executive Director Jay Berlin had a desire to have an agency to implement his ideas about supporting young people in family settings. On July 1, 1978 with kids, foster families and staff in tow, Alternative Family Services opened its door for business. Today AFS serves thousands of N. CA foster youth in 17 counties.
