The Sexual Assault Resource Center will begin its

67th Volunteer Training Class on Saturday, August 14, 2010.

The Sexual Assault Resource Center is planning to begin its 67th Advocate Training Class on Saturday August 14, 2010.  The training is open to anyone who is interested in helping victims and survivors of sexual assaults, and their loved ones.

Advocates who work with the center staff the 24-hour crisis hotline as well as accompany sexual assault survivors to local hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and court proceedings.

Participants will complete a free training course covering the legal and medical arenas of sexual assault, as well as crisis intervention techniques and more. Upon completion of the course, advocates are certified through the Office of Attorney General.

This is a great opportunity for individuals to help make their communities safer and make an impact on someone's life.

Please contact Brooke Wyatt at (979) 731-1000 between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday to begin the application process.  Prospective advocates must schedule an interview prior to entrance into the training program and pass a criminal background check.

For more information, please contact the Sexual Assault Resource Center at (979) 731-1000, or visit the agency's website at www.sarcbv.org.
