The Aggieland Humane Society, formerly Brazos Animal Shelter provides: Humane Shelter, care, and placement for stray and unwanted animals Promotes the human animal bond and Promotes responsible pet ownership to enhance the quality of life for the people and animals in our community.
Description:
Our vision is to be a leader among animal welfare organizations in Texas.
History:
In 1981, the Aggieland Humane Society was incorporated as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We moved to 2207 Finfeather Road in 1983 and were incorporated as a humane society and animal control facility for College Station, Bryan, and Brazos County. Around 2004, the City of Bryan and Brazos County took over animal control, so it was no longer done out of the Aggieland Humane Society. In the beginning we only had three board members–but today we have a board of 14 members. In 2008, the Aggieland Humane Society purchased the property at 5359 Leonard Road. On July 1, 2011 we opened our doors to the new location and ended our contract with the City of Bryan on August 31, 2011. Prior to July of 2012, we held the name Brazos Animal Shelter. Since we are able to focus on College Station now, we wanted to take a name that held the spirit of the city… Aggieland Humane Society!
