Montana Rescue Mission
| Last updated on March 11, 2013 |
Our mission is to provide emergency, temporary care and rehabilitative services, with a distinctly Christian perspective, for the poor and homeless in Billings and the greater Yellowstone County area.
Description:
The Montana Rescue Mission services include shelter, hot meals, clothing, medical care, and limited transportation for residents only. The Women's and Family Shelter services include shelter, hot meals, clothing, medical care and transportation for residents only. The Bargain Center Ministries have three locations in Billings offering good quality, reusable merchandise, from furniture to dishes to clothing.
History:
The Montana Rescue Mission was started in a vacant cafe in 1947 offering nightly meetings and has grown into the Mission building located at 2822 Minnesota Avenue. In 2001, the Women's and Family Shelter and the Men's Mission served 350 nutritious meals a day and provided 135 people a safe place to sleep every night. Over 40% of the guests at the Women's and Family Shelter are children. The Bargain Center Ministries gave away 88 items each weekday, helping clothe 27 people each day. Both shelters offer long term recovery programs, usually taking six months to complete. These programs are for men, women and families, with a special emphasis on developing a closer personal relationship with God and greater levels of personal responsibility.
