Volunteer Opportunity - CASA Guardian ad Litem Volunteer
Volunteer Opportunity Details:
The CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program recruits, screens, trains and supports volunteers who advocate for children placed in foster care. A CASA (also called a Guardian ad Litem)is an independent third party advocate, matched with an abused or neglected child who has come under the protective custody of the Department of Health and Welfare. A guardian provides the judge with a carefully researched background of the child to help the court make a sound decision about that child's future. Training is approximately 30 hours typically in the evenings and on weekends. Must pass a comprehensive background check including child abuse central registry, sex offender registry, and FBI NCIC national database. This opportunity is sponsored by: Family Advocates
