United Way of the Wine Country is dedicated to improving the lives of local children, families and individuals by mobilizing the caring power of our community. About the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County

Since 1972, the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County has worked to promote volunteerism and strengthen community service efforts. Each year, it connects thousands of people  wishing  to volunteer with hundreds of organizations needing help. The Volunteer Center offers many programs, including tutoring school children in reading and math, fostering active lifestyles in our neighborhoods, driving homebound residents to critical appointments, providing information on human services via 211, and working with the court system to provide community service as a sentencing alternative. We host the Agilent Environmental  Challenge, Hands On Sonoma County…Powered by Friedman's, Sonoma County Secret Santa and Volunteer Recognition Event. We also offer management training to nonprofit organizations and assist hundreds of agencies each year with capacity-building and fundraising support.
