The Alliance for Economic Inclusion is an FDIC national initiative designed to establish broad-based coalitions of financial institutions, community-based organizations and other partners to bring all unbanked and underserved populations into the financial mainstream through consumer financial education and collaboration with financial institutions to develop tailored products and services. As a result, low and moderate-income individuals and families will be able to:
  • Take advantage of alternatives to high-cost and often predatory financial products
  • Build savings
  • Improve their credit-risk profiles in order to lower their cost of payment services
  • Gain access to basic financial services that promote asset accumulation
  • Eliminate a common source of personal stress

Volunteers will be expected to attend a one time all day training on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, provided by the FDIC.  The training will be broken out into the following ten modules:

  • Bank On It
  • Borrwoing Basica
  • Check It Out
  • Money Matters
  • Pay Yourself First
  • Keep It Safe
  • To Your Credit
  • Charge It Right
  • Loan To Own
  • Your Own Home

After volunteers have completed this comprehensive training they will be able to sign up to be an instructor on one of the topics listed above.  Excellent communication skills are required.  Bilingual in Spanish is required for some host sites.   volunteers will also be working with and developing relationships with financial institutions and coordinators from other non-profit agencies.

To sign up to be a volunteer, please contact Luz Gayon-Telleria,  HOS Program Director, Catholic Social Services of Oakland County at 248-338-4250 ext.3703 telleriam@cssoc.org or Aurora Hamameh  hamameha@cssoc.org.
