It's a RACE...It's a PARTY...It's to COMBAT HOMELESSNESS in Southeastern Michigan!

Strategic Staffing Solutions is hosting the Grand Prix Shakedown 16th Annual Race on Tuesday, August 25th and they are looking for energetic, enthusiastic volunteers like YOU!

The Motor City Shakedown run/walk event will benefit United Way for Southeastern Michigan's 2-1-1 On the Go! 100%.

Volunteers should plan to meet on Belle Isle at Shelter #7 by 2:30 p.m.  The event will end approximately 9:00 p.m.  Please contact Laura Jerome at 313-596-6924 or ljerome@strategicstaff.com to sign up as a volunteer for this fantastic event!

Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

Course Marshals (20-40 people).  The focus for these folks is the safety of the runners.  Course Marshals are stationed in small groups or individually around the length of the course (when possible we are hoping to pair up an unexperienced volunteer with a volunteer who has done this before).  Their primary job is to make traffic aware of the runners, keep traffic in traffic lanes, and hold traffic to allow runners to safely cross traffic spots around the course.  Also they will encourage / cheer on the runners and make sure the runners stay on the course.  There will be a training meeting for all these people at 5pm, on Tuesday (the day of the event) on the Island at Shelter 7.

Water stations set-up on the course.  Most of these folks will need to be able to stay until the race ends at roughly 8:30pm (particularly those stationed toward the end of the race).  The fun will continue at the shelter after this and everyone is encouraged to join us.

Shelter Set-Up.  For people who want to volunteer earlier in the day, we will need a few people (7-10 people) to help get everything set-up at the Shelter.  We are asking these folks to arrive at the shelter by 2:30pm.  These folks may assist us to hang banners and post signs, and setting-up the area in the shelter for registration.   Set-up will be complete by 4 - 4:30pm, but again, everyone is encouraged to stay for as long as they can.

Registration.  We will also need a few people (10-12 people) to assist with the registration process.  This may include helping people find parking, assisting the runners with the registration forms, or handing out t-shirts and goodie bags.  We are asking  these folks to arrive at the Shelter by 3:30pm, and they will be busy until 7pm, when the race starts.

Tear-Down.  After the race, we will need a few people (7-10 people)  to assist with tear-down.  This may include collecting cones that are out on the course, collecting staked signs and banners or gathering empty pizza boxes into neat stacks.  This will all occur at the end of the evening so these folks will need to be able to stay until at least 9 - 9:30pm.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely-

Laura Jerome
