Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) volunteers (carry a beeper, nights or weekends) Focus: Basic Needs

Powered by Truist

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on October 23, 2012

DVRT volunteers carry a beeper, nights or weekends, teamed with another DVRT volunteer. They receive pages from police and hospital personnel, and contact survivors who are being treated at a hospital or whose assailants have been arrested. They provide information on domestic violence and the legal system, support, and safety planning. DVRT Volunteers are a critical support to survivors who have just been assaulted or are injured or ill, and serve as a much-needed link between survivors and the services available to them at SafeHouse Center.

An interview is required prior to training, and all DVRT Volunteers must attend the 40 hour training. Volunteers work 3 hour shifts per month (M-F 5pm-8am, Sat/Sun 8am-8am) We ask volunteers to commit to at least 6 months of volunteer work at SafeHouse Center.
