Leaps And Bounds Family Services
Leaps and Bounds Family Services is dedicated to creatively and collaboratively addressing the educational needs of families at risk in south Macomb and Wayne counties.
Description:
The agency provides adult education, after school and summer programs for 3rd-8th graders, early literacy and parent supports. Over 3,000 individuals are served annually. After school programs meet ten hours weekly plus individual tutoring time is available. Early literacy projects include parent/child interactive learning groups throughout the community, literacy home visits and weekly programs. Adult programs include GED preparation, adult education and ESL. Workshops are also provided.
History:
The agency was established in 1988 as the Poverty and Social Reform Institute. The name change occurred in 2003. Since inception, the agency has provided early literacy and parenting through onsite and home based programming. Services for school-aged youth evolved based on community request. The agency has offices in northwest Detroit and south Warren and serves individuals regardless of residency or other restrictions.
