Volunteer Park Ranger - North Cascades NP
Volunteer Opportunity Details:
Experience the intense and rugged beauty of the North Cascades - jagged peaks, deep valleys, cascading waterfalls and over 700 glaciers. North Cascades National Park Service Complex contains the heart of this mountainous region in three park units which are all managed as one and include North Cascades National Park, Ross Lake and Lake Chelan National Recreation Areas. Each area offers different experiences and contains wilderness. A vast majority of the park complex, over 93%, is managed as the Stephen T. Mather Wilderness. Volunteers will provide support to the Interpretation Division staff during the summer months by conducting basic research of topics for the purpose of providing interpretive programs. They will present a variety of formal and informal programs, including orientation talks, conducted walks and evening campground programs. In addition, the volunteers will inform visitors about park facilities and resources working at the Visitor Center; conduct Northwest Interpretive Association sales and remittances; utilize radio and telephone communications; operate a variety of audiovisual and other equipment; and carry out other assigned duties. We are looking for a minimum of 4 month commitment during the summer months and 32 hours per week. Volunteers will be provided an RV site with full hookups or shared park housing may be available.
