Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 26, 2012

Every third Saturday of the month from 9:00a.m. to noon. Join a Ranger to learn about this national park while you volunteer a hand to improve it. Projects include helping the local flowers thrive by removing exotic plants that push them out, restoration of historic structures, preparing for events, grooming trails, or planting and maintaining a 1900s heirloom garden, a native plant garden or collecting seeds in the park to grow plants in our greenhouse. Come prepared for the weather, wear sunscreen, bring bug spray and water. Contact Ted_Winterfeld@nps.gov to let him know you want to come out to help.

Each month the location changes so contact Ted_Winterfeld@nps.gov to find out where the project is going to be this month. Dress for the weather, bring bug spray and sunscreen, we will provide safety equipment such as glasses and gloves. Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore was established in part because of the amazing plant diversity contained in this comparatively small park. This volunteer work is very important.
