Description:
HealthLinc provides primary and preventive medical, dental, and mental health care for the underserved in Northwest Indiana. We care for anyone, regardless of their ability to pay. Many of our patients have Medicaid coverage and many are uninsured and pay on a sliding fee scale basis. We have many partners in the community who work with our patients - Porter Hospital and numerous specialty physicians - who help assure that our patients can receive the care they need.

History:
We originally began as a small, free clinic, as part of Hilltop Neighborhood House in 1994, and then expanded in 2001 to become Hilltop Community Health Center, adding Medicaid-eligible patients to our already growing roster of uninsured and underinsured patients. In 2006, we received the designation of Federally Qualified Health Center which means that we receive some government grants, can bill for the services we provide and must meet standards for financial prudence and the quality of care we provide. In 2008, we opened a second clinic in Michigan City. Our approach is to provide integrated care - medical, dental and mental health - in a compassionate and respectful manner.
