Helping Hands Assistance Program
Last updated on November 7, 2011

Helping Hands Assistance Program helps to empower individuals and families through assistance and encouragement to break free from the grip of poverty, in order to live fully effective lives. Helping Hands helps to prevent homelessness and assists families and individuals to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to reach economic self sufficiency.

Description:
Helping Hands "90 Day Emergency Food Program" offers emergency food, clothing, household items, personal hygiene items, furniture and baby items. All inquiries by appointment only. Each Tuesday and Thursday volunteers assist clients with online food stamp applications and referrals to other vital county agencies. Most importantly, we offer hope and encouragement through dedicated volunteers who take the time to review each case individually. Extended outreach events include "Stamp out Hunger", Food for Families, Project Thanksgiving, Toys for Tots, and Back to School Bash with the City of Greenacres. As a community advocate for individuals and families, Helping Hands has been committed to extending a helping hand in the continued pursuit of active partnerships and neighborhood involvement to produce positive community outcomes.

History:
Helping Hands Assistance Program opened its doors on January 2, 2004 with the intention of helping people going through rough times to get back to self-sufficiency. The program was created to be a resource conduit for meeting a variety of needs in the community. Helping Hands is a community venture of Church of the Risen Messiah and Wellspring International.
