The Tri-County RSVP Program matches individuals over the age of 55 with non-profit, governmental and faith-based organizations who need volunteers to ensure the success of their missions. In return volunteers remain active and engaged in their communities while sharing their talents and life experience with others.

Description:
RSVP is proud to provide meaningful volunteer opportunities to individuals over the age of 55. Volunteers participate in various roles in the following areas: Independent Living, Mentoring, Emergency Preparedness, Community Development and Health Services.

Volunteers will provide services to the elderly such as companionship, transportation, tax preparers for senior citizens, meal deliveries, etc.
Volunteers are needed as adult and youth mentors and tutors in a variety of sites. RSVP's also serve as advocates for children in the legal systems with organizations like CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Kids).

Volunteers work with local and state emergency preparedness organizations such as the Red Cross and Citizen Corp.

This program supports the development of our communities in many ways. Volunteers serve as board members, tour guides, interpreters, fundraisers, conference aides, grant writers, museum exhibitors, and volunteer coordinators.

Volunteers also work in the health services field as nurses, mentors for individuals suffering mental illness, nurses in blood pressure clinics and foot clinics, hospital aides, assistants for flu clinics, x-ray runners and more.

In short, RSVP can find a volunteer opportunity to fit any volunteer's skill level and interest! There is no minimum service time required. Secondary accident and liability insurance is provided and annual recognition.

History:
The RSVP Program is a 35 year old Senior Corp program sponsored by Rocky Mountain Development Council and funded in part by the Corporation for National Service and United Way. 455 RSVP volunteers serve 87 sites in the Tri-County area of Lewis & Clark, Jefferson and Broadwater Counties.

Tri-County RSVP Program 5 Overall Experience    Experience rating
Two years with Americorps, responded to multiple natural disasters
Through Americorps St Louis I responded to two tornados in Missouri as well as Hurricane Sandy in New York. While there I worked in the field cutting up fallen trees and demolishing or gutting damaged houses.
