History:
Kansas Lyme Fighters was formed 2/09 and since that time has elected Board of Directors, held monthly meetings, and completed a variety of activities: listening to callers as friends helping friends, connecting the public to resources within their community, and rejoicing when people get diagnosed correctly and obtain proper medical treatment. We have helped individuals and families in Douglas County (an endemic area) and in Kansas who are infected with Lyme and other tick-borne diseases (a cluster of bacterial, viral, and parasitic infections often misdiagnosed as 300 different diseases). In 2012, we changed our name to Kansas Tick-Borne Disease Advocates, Inc. Other activities are: Developing an interactive social support group on our website May Awareness Month Raising money to give as grants to individuals and families through our current fundraisers: Hope for Healing 5K & 1 Mile Walk at the Lawrence Rotary Arboretum on Father's Day June 16, and the fall Harvest Carnival (third Sat in October) Attending Health Fairs in our Community Providing information to the media about the Standards of Care at www.Ilads.org Award Winning Medical Documentary at www.underourskin.com (free at www.hulu.com) Pamela Wientrab's book about the Lyme disease epidemic at www.cureunknown.com If you have questions, call Peninah at 785 248 3504 or email at kstbda@gmail.com
