Douglas County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteers improve and protect the health and well being of our community by participating in community health initiatives and providing surge capacity for the public health emergency workforce of the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department. The Douglas County MRC is part of a nationwide MRC network with over 900 community-based groups and over 200,000 volunteers. The MRC is sponsored by the Office of the Surgeon General of the United States.
Description:
Douglas County MRC volunteers can be active or inactive health professionals, retired health professionals and others with relevant health-related skills. Some of the jobs MRC volunteers perform include: • Staffing a mass dispensing site • Providing vaccinations • Educating, counseling and working with the public • Assisting with infectious disease outbreak investigations
