Drake University Head Start is currently recruiting Community Representatives to serve on the Drake University Head Start Policy Council. The Community Representative positions will begin in October of 2008.
The Policy Council meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at
Policy Council is a decision making group that includes parents of currently enrolled Head Start/Early Head Start children and Community Representatives. The Head Start Policy Council provides an opportunity for parents and members of the community to help shape decisions about program outcomes and activities.
Drake University Head Start is the largest Head Start in
Head Start is a federally funded program that serves low-income families. Head Start was founded on the philosophy that effective intervention in the lives of children can be accomplished through family and community involvement.
This is an opportunity to participate as a community partner in a leadership position that helps strengthen the Head Start program and the families served.
