Description:
HCT provides individuals approaching end of life the hope of maintaining the highest possible level of independence within familiar surroundings. Our team offers comfort by easing pain and providing symptom management to the patient while family and friends receive encouragement and support during the process. At HCT, our goal is to provide the same level and quality of care to someone at the end of their life as they received at the beginning of life's journey. Our volunteers are special people who care and have a desire to give back in their spare time to others. HCT takes pride in ensuring that eeach volunter is a knowledgeable and caring ambassador for our agency.
History:
In February 19, a group of concerned citizens in the Galveston area gathered to discuss the unmet needs of persons with terminal illness in our community. They worked for two years to develop a charter, create by laws and solicit start up funds.HCT served their first patient in 1983 in Galveston County. We now serve Brazoria, Galveston, Northeast Matagorda and Southeast Harris Counties.
