Position title: Help Lead Local United Way as a Board Member
Description: Board members of UWMRF must be passionate about the mission of UWMRF which is "to connect people and resources to improve lives in the New River Valley", and passionate about local human services. UWMRF Board members are expected to actively serve on at least one team while serving on the board (Campaign; Collaborations & Community Building; Community Investment; Finance/Operations/Audit; PR/Marketing; Technology; Planning Resource Development. Candidates with past experience as volunteers is preferable; candidates with experience volunteering for United Way in some capacity is desired, but not mandatory (could have been with another local United Way). The board meets 6-7 times per year at lunch for about 1.15-1.30 hours. Teams set up their own meeting schedules according to their needs.
