Our mission is to increase the availability of financial resources to qualified human service agencies in Pulaski County. These funds will enable health and human service agencies to care for the needs of the community in addition to promoting teamwork that will enable the most effective and efficient delivery of those services.

Pulaski County United Way (PCUW) began in 1959 with a group of local volunteers interested in Pulaski County residents having a better quality of life. Pulaski County United Way is an independently operated and locally governed 501c(3) non-profit charitable organization. Volunteers from different areas of the county compose the Board of Directors who govern and provide leadership to the organization. In October 1991, PCUW hired its first full-time Executive Director. Pulaski County United Way also has one part-time administrative assistant. All other assistance comes from volunteers and student interns.

Highlights of the progression of Pulaski County United Way are as follows:
• First office opened in 1991 at 15 West Main Street in Pulaski
• Current office is located at 246 N. Washington Avenue in Pulaski
• All furnishings have been donated or are on loan
• All office equipment except the telephones have been donated
• Current member of United Way Worldwide (formerly United Way of America)
• All United Ways in the United States are governed by their local Board of Directors

Agency Funding:

Funds collected through Pulaski County United Way are distributed to agencies and organizations that provide vital health and human services to the community. Agencies who receive funding from PCUW are referred to as a participating or partner agency. Any charitable agency serving Pulaski County may apply for funding. (Agencies are required to meet certain minimum criteria for further funding consideration.) Funds are being distributed to 22 Partner Agencies and 2 Community Impact Agencies. Contributors can choose to give to the General Allocation Fund and allow volunteers to examine the services and needs of participating agencies. A contributor may also choose to give to a particular United Way agency or any non-profit organization.
