Volunteer Opportunity Details:

I'm interested in this opportunity

Our Match-Grant program is an employment-based program designed to help newly arrived refugees successfully navigate the U.S. workforce, and ultimately land a job.

As a part of this program, we will be providing our clients with weekly Job-Readiness-Classes. These classes will play a vital role in helping our clients become acquainted with general U.S. cultural norms (As they most likely differ greatly from those of their home country), as well as allow them to better understand how to go about getting a job while having to face a number of obstacles and barriers.

These classes will differ from week to week and include the following topics:

  • Introduction to U.S. workforce norms
  • General etiquette practices
  • Resume assistance
  • Various interactive worksheets
  • Job-skills activities
  • Strategies when looking for work
  • Mock Interviews
  • Etc.

Job class assistants will be working one on one with clients or with multiple clients, helping them to better understand the material. There will be many other opportunities for these volunteers as well, including translating, helping with mock-interviews, paperwork assistance, etc.

These classes will be held on Mondays from 1:30p.m.-3:30p.m., with the first class starting on February 27th.

We are looking for bi-lingual individuals that will be able to communicate with our clients that speak little to no English. The only other requirement is reliable transportation, as it is very important that volunteers make it to the weekly class in a timely manner.

Looking for individuals that speak the following languages:
