Share your best Day of Caring photos with us and you'll be entered to win fabulous prizes!
 
United Way of King County's Day of Caring is an amazing day of hope, unity and action and we want to see how your company or group does volunteerism! You don't have to be a professional photographer to capture the spirit of Day of Caring. All you have to do is upload your photos to the Day of Caring photostream on Flickr or post them to United Way of King County's Facebook wall (see instructions below) by 5pm on September 19th and you will be eligible to win a $50 gift card to University Village! Anyone who submits a photo is automatically entered to win* but we will also be awarding prizes for each of the categories listed below, so start thinking about that perfect shot now!  Winning photos will be highlighted on the United Way of King County homepage and blog. All submissions will be displayed on UWKC's Flickr page
 
 
*Remember to provide a caption for your photos that includes your name, the name of your company and the name of the organization you volunteered with.
 
Photo Contest Categories:
 
  • Funniest Team Photo – we know you're serious about volunteering, but we want to see you bring the goof
  • Best Before and After – be proud of those 3,000 pounds of food you packed or that small forest worth of blackberry bushes you annihilated. Remember to take a picture at the beginning and end of your project!
  • Most creative team photo – fire up that right side of the brain!
  • Best captures the spirit of Day of Caring (best overall photo)
 
 
How to Enter:  There are two ways to enter the photo contest. . .
 
  • 1) Add your photos to the Day of Caring photostream on Flickr:
  •            - If you don't already have a Flickr account, set one up at www.flickr.com
  •            - Click the "Upload Photos and Video" link on your homepage and select the photos you want to share
  •            - Make sure the photo is set to "Public" and upload
  •            - On the next page, click the link to add a description
  •            - Enter a title and description for your photo that includes your name, the name of your company, and them of the organization you volunteered with
  •            - Enter dayofcaringkc in the "tags" box
  •            - Click Save
  •  
  • 2) Post your photos to United Way of King County's Facebook page:
  •          - If you don't already, make sure to "like" United Way's Facebook page
  •          - On UWKC's Facebook wall, click the link to share a photo
  •          - Select the photo(s) you want to share and upload
  •          - Make sure to include a caption that includes the name of your company and the name of the organization you volunteered with.

 

Eligibility: All Day of Caring volunteers are eligible to submit photos and win. Volunteers may submit as many photos as they would like, but only one prize will be awarded per winner. Prizes will be sent to the volunteer who submits the photo.
 
Winners: Winners will be selected by UWKC staff and announced via the UWKC blog on Thursday, September 22nd. Prizes will be sent out by Monday, September 26th and will be awarded to the volunteer who submits the photo. Winning photos will be displayed on the UWKC blog with photographer credits and may be used in future UWKC communications.
 
Rights and privacy: All photos must be free of claims and rights of third parties. By submitting a photo to the contest, you are giving UWKC the right to use the photo in future communications. Photos cannot contain pictures of persons who have not signed the Day of Caring communications release form (this is part of the liability release form and is signed on-site the day of the event).
